Pencipta Pokemon Go sedih

Ada sisi baik dan buruk. Begitu juga game Pokemon Go, sempat jadi polemik. Sejumlah instansi di Indonesia melarang pegawainya main game buatan John Hanke dari Niantic Labs itu. 

’’Game ini memang membuat seseorang aktif bergerak dan keluar ruangan. Namun, saya kini sadar bahwa game ini punya dampak yang tidak sesuai dengan harapan,’’ ujarnya saat konferensi Games Beat 2016 pada Selasa (2/8).

Para pemain Pokemon Go seolah kecanduan dengan smartphone-nya. Hampir setiap saat mereka memperhatikan layar telepon untuk melihat PokeStop terdekat atau keberadaan Pokemon di sekitar mereka. 

’’Padahal, saya ingin mereka juga melihat lingkungan sekitar, bukan hanya terpaku kepada layar ponsel,’’ ujar Hanke.

Jika dibiarkan, tujuan mulia Hanke agar para pemain semakin mengenal kondisi sekitarnya sulit dicapai. Game Pokemon Go tidak ubahnya seperti game lain yang membuat pemain memiliki dunia sendiri, terpisah dari dunia nyata. 

Karena itu, Hanke sedang mengupayakan upgrade game fenomenal hasil kerja samanya dengan The Pokemon Company dan Nintendo itu.

Bernama Pokemon Go Plus, game itu bisa memberikan notifikasi kepada para pemain mengenai PokeStop dan Pokemon yang muncul di sekitar mereka. ’’Dengan notifikasi itu, pemain tidak perlu menatap ponsel terus-menerus,’’ ujar Hanke.

Selain itu, Hanke akan melakukan upgrade terhadap sistem augmented reality Pokemon Go. ’’Ke depan, saya mau menambahkan unsur selain penggabungan dunia nyata dengan gambar digital. Rencananya, Pokemon Go lebih bersifat sci-fi,’’ ujarnya. 

Di luar hal itu, Hanke belum memaparkan detail mengenai upgrade game-nya. Pihak Niantic pun sudah berupaya menghilangkan PokeStop di beberapa tempat. 

Beberapa di antaranya adalah wilayah privat, misalnya rumah dan properti, museum Holocaust, dan World Trade Center.

’’Tolong diperhatikan bahwa kami juga telah menolak permintaan PokeStops,’’ ujar perwakilan Niantic. Hal itu dilakukan untuk menjaga ketertiban sehingga player tidak bermain Pokemon Go di sembarang tempat.

Sementara itu, perdebatan terjadi di kalangan pemain. Penyebabnya, di Ohio, AS, ada seorang pemain yang mengaku telah menangkap Articuno, Pokemon legendaris yang sulit didapat dan hanya akan muncul saat ada event khusus dari pengelola Pokemon Go. Sang pemain yang beruntung itu Kaitlyn Covey.

Dalam akun Facebook-nya, Covey mengunggah screenshot layar ponselnya yang bergambar avatar game-nya dan sosok Articuno. Menyikapi hal itu, salah seorang perwakilan Niantic mulai angkat bicara.

’’Kami belum merilis Articuno serta beberapa Pokemon legendaris yang lain,’’ ujarnya sebagaimana dilansir Geek.com. Pihak Niantic pun sedang berupaya menelusuri hal tersebut.
